
Final Results
WINDERMERE, Florida – Fighting Illini men's golf closed play at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for 11th as a team. The Orange and Blue shot 7-over par in the final round to finish 17-over in total and tie with Minnesota. Illini freshman Jerry Ji led Illinois in the final round of play, firing a third-round tally at even par. Senior Giovanni Tadiotto was also among team leaders in the final round as he closed play with a third-round score 1-over par.
Host school, UCF, earned the tournament title, finishing 20-under par, while LSU (-6) and Vanderbilt (-1) make up the top three teams on the leaderboard.
Tadiotto and Ji tied for 43rd individually at Isleworth Golf & Country Club. The two finished 6-over par in total. Leading Illinois in Tuesday's round, Ji carded three birdies through his first nine holes of the day. Tadiotto added four birdies to UI's third-round tally.
Senior Bryan Baumgarten and sophomore Adrien Dumont de Chassart shot 3-over par on Tuesday for total scores 7-over. They joined senior Michael Feagles in a tie for 48th individually. Feagles closed the tournament 7-over par as well.
THE TOURNAMENT
Hosted by UCF and West Virginia, teams played 18 holes each day, October 20-22, on the Par 72, 7,544-yard course at Isleworth Golf & Country Club. Recognized as one of the premier collegiate events in the country, the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational welcomes the nation's top teams each season. The 2019 field is no different, as the tournament field includes several teams ranked among the top 50 in the country according to Golfweek. In addition to the No. 31-ranked Illini, the field included No. 2 Texas Tech, No. 14 Arizona State, No. 15 Auburn, No. 20 Texas, No. 25 West Virginia, No. 26 LSU, No. 27 Vanderbilt, No. 34 South Carolina, No. 40 Minnesota, No. 45 Florida, No. 50 California, Augusta, UCF, UNLV and West Virginia.
NEXT UP
The Orange and Blue will close the fall slate next week at the Cypress Point Classic. Hosted by Stanford University, the Illini will travel to Pebble Beach, California for the Ryder Cup-style tournament. The format will split the eight participating teams into two groups for a head-to-head style competition. Teams will play a four-ball match and a round for foursomes on the 28th of October before finishing with a singles match on the 29th. One of the most renowned golf courses in the country, Cypress Point Club was ranked the No. 3 golf course in the world by Golf Digest this year.
