WINDERMERE, Florida – Fighting Illini men's golf continued play at the 2019 Tavistock Collegiate Invitational on Monday, led by senior Michael Feagles who is at even par and tied for 20th in the tournament field after 36 holes of play. As a team, the Orange and Blue shot 7-over par on Tuesday and sit in a tie for 11th on the leaderboard. Illini tee times for Tuesday's final round are set to begin at 7:25 a.m. CT.
Host team, UCF, continues to lead the tournament field after the second round with a total score 21-under par. Texas Tech and Vanderbilt (-4) round out the top three teams on the leaderboard.
After a first round score at even par, Feagles was steady for Illinois once again. The Illini senior birdied three holes in his second round to negate late bogeys in the day and finish at even par for the second round.
Senior Bryan Baumgarten and sophomore Adrien Dumont de Chassart sit 4-over par through two rounds of play at Isleworth. The two are tied for 42nd on the individual leaderboard. Dumont de Chassart carded a late birdie on Monday to negate early bogeys in the round and finish 3-over for the day. Baumgarten shot 5-over par on Monday.
Senior Giovanni Tadiotto shot 1-over par in Monday's second round, racking up four birdies in the round. He is 5-over par in total and tied for 49th. Freshman Jerry Ji is tied for 54th at 6-over par in total.
THE TOURNAMENT
Hosted by UCF and West Virginia, teams will play 18 holes each day, October 20-22, on the Par 72, 7,544-yard course at Isleworth Golf & Country Club, with tee times beginning at 7 a.m. CT. Recognized as one of the premier collegiate events in the country, the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational welcomes the nation's top teams each season. The 2019 field is no different, as the tournament field includes several teams ranked among the top 50 in the country according to Golfweek. In addition to the No. 31-ranked Illini, the field includes No. 2 Texas Tech, No. 14 Arizona State, No. 15 Auburn, Â No. 20 Texas, No. 25 West Virginia, No. 26 LSU, No. 27 Vanderbilt, No. 34 South Carolina, No. 40 Minnesota, No. 45 Florida, No. 50 California, Augusta, UCF, UNLV and West Virginia.
