CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – A native of Plano, Texas, Shaylah Scott hails from Metroplex Gymnastics and Swim, the same gym as fellow Illini Haylee Roe. A two-time Nastia Liukin Cup qualifier, she was runner-up for the prestigious competition in 2015. She is a two-time Junior Olympic National qualifier, winning the 2016 Junior Olympic National all-around and vault titles, along with qualifying for the 2016 Junior Olympic National Team. Scott earned nine Region 3 Level 10 regional titles throughout her club career, including a sweep in 2016. In the state of Texas, the Plano native notched seven state titles, including a career-high 9.925 on beam in 2018. The Illini newcomer is looking to make an immediate impact for the team in 2019...
Why you chose Illinois?
Because of the opportunity to be a part of the growth of an already great program. The university's reputation for academic success and the respected, continuously growing gymnastics program made me know Illinois is the school for me. Every time I visit campus, it feels like I could stay forever.
