Future Football Schedules | B1G Release

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The Big Ten Conference announced Wednesday the football schedules for conference games in 2022-2025. In addition to the 36 Big Ten games announced, Illinois set three new nonconference matchups and moved two previously scheduled nonconference games. The schedules for Fighting Illini football schedules through the 2024 season are now complete.

Big Ten Schedules
Illinois will continue to play nine Big Ten games - six against its fellow Big Ten West teams and three against Big Ten East teams.

The Illini's crossover games are:
• 2022: Michigan State, at Penn State, at Michigan
• 2023: Penn State, at Maryland, Indiana
• 2024: at Ohio State, at Penn State, Rutgers
• 2025: Penn State, Michigan, at Michigan State

Additional schedule notes:
• All of Illinois' completed schedules through 2024 include seven home games at Memorial Stadium
• Illinois will begin the 2022, 2024 and 2025 seasons with Big Ten opponents
• Illinois will continue to finish the season against Northwestern, alternating home and away games

Nonconference Changes
In addition to the 2022-2025 schedules, Illinois announced it will host Illinois State on Sept 5, 2020, Chattanooga on Sept. 24, 2022 and Eastern Illinois on Sept. 21, 2024. The game against Florida Atlantic moved from Sept. 5, 2020 to Sept. 23, 2023. The game against Central Michigan moved from Sept. 24, 2022 to Sept. 14, 2024.

Here's a breakdown of nonconference game additions and changes:
• Sept. 5, 2020 vs. Illinois State (New addition; Florida Atlantic moved to 9/23/2023)
• Sept. 24, 2022 vs. Chattanooga (New addition; Central Michigan moved to 9/14/2024)
• Sept. 23, 2023 vs. Florida Atlantic (moved from 9/5/2020)
• Sept. 14, 2024 vs. Central Michigan (moved from 9/24/2022)
• Sept. 21, 2024 vs. Eastern Illinois (New addition)
