CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Due heavy rains overnight, Friday's practice was moved from the grass Campus Rec. Field to the turf inside Memorial Stadium, making it the first of two straight practices inside the historic home of Illinois Football. Practice No. 12 of Training Camp went for two hours and 15 minutes and the Illini looked fresh following a day off on Thursday. Several big plays highlighted Friday's action, including two highlight reel passes from AJ Bush to Ricky Smalling and a pick-six by linebacker Del'Shawn Phillips.
Fan Appreciation Day Set for Saturday
On Saturday, the Fighting Illini will host Fan Appreciation Day at Memorial Stadium. The final open practice of Training Camp will run from 3-5 p.m., with autographs taking place on the field immediately after practice from 5-6 p.m. It will be the last chance for Fighting Illini fans to see the team in action before the season-opener against Kent State on Sept. 1.
