CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Fighting Illini soccer squad took on the Cincinnati Bearcats on Sunday in one final exhibition match before opening regular season play next week. The Orange and Blue fell to Cincinnati, 1-0, in the midday competition.
Illini junior goalkeeper Jaelyn Cunningham was strong defensively, grabbing six saves on the day. Both the Illini and the Bearcats posted eight shots in the match. The UI attack was evenly spread as the squad posted four shots in each half of play.
Six Illinois newcomers saw the field on Sunday, including freshman Peyton Willie who fired two shots on the day. Sophomore Hope Breslin also fired two shots for Illinois in the match.
