Illini Celebrate Senior Day with Sweep of Badgers

URBANA, Ill. – The No. 14 Illinois women's tennis team capped the regular season home slate with a 4-0 sweep of the Wisconsin Badgers. The Senior Day win moves Illinois to 19-3 overall this season and 8-2 in Big Ten play. The 19 wins is good for the third-most in program history.

Doubles play saw the Illini go a perfect 12-for-12 in clinching doubles point at the Atkins Tennis Center this season. Junior Jaclyn Switkes and senior Grace Tapak clinched the point on court two, 7-5.

The Illini were quick to take care of business in singles action. Junior Daniela Pedraza-Novak was first off the courts with a 6-1, 6-4 win over MaryAnn Rompf. Freshman Mia Rabinowitz extended her singles winning streak to nine matches by defeating Melissa Pick, 6-0, 6-2. Fellow-freshman Sasha Belaya clinched the match on court five with a 6-0, 7-5 victory against Kelsey Grambeau.

Up next, the Illini conclude the 2018 regular season on the road. Illinois will take on Ohio State in Columbus on Friday at 3 pm before traveling to Penn State for the regular season finale on Sunday at 10 am.
