URBANA, Ill. –  The No. 11 Fighting Illini women's tennis team extended their winning streak to six matches with a 4-1 victory over the Maryland Terrapins on Sunday afternoon at the Atkins Tennis Center. Illinois improves to 16-2 overall this season and 4-1 against Big Ten opponents.

Illinois clinched the doubles point for the seventh-straight match on Sunday with wins on two and three. Junior Daniela Pedraza-Novak and freshman Mia Rabinowitz were the first two Illini off the singles courts and each extended their respective winning streaks to six matches. After returning to the lineup, freshman Asuka Kawai clinched the 4-1 victory for Illinois in a 7-4 tiebreaker at the No. 2 position.

Up next, the Illini travel to the State of Michigan next weekend for another two Big Ten matches. First up, the Illini take on the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday at 11 am CT followed by Michigan State on Sunday at the same time.

• The Orange and Blue improve to 7-1 all-time against Maryland. The lone loss in the all-time series was on March 26, 1997.
