CHAMPAIGN - Coming off of a 40-under par victory at the BIGHORN Invitational, Fighting Illini men's golf is set to continue spring play at the 3M Augusta Invitational this weekend. The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by Augusta University at Forest Hills Golf Club, March 31-April 1.
The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT on Saturday. Teams will play 36 holes on Saturday at Forest Hills, which boasts a Par 72, 7,005-yard course. The final round of play will begin with tee times at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The 3M Augusta Invitational welcomes some of the nation's top teams, as ranked by Golfstat, including No. 13 Illinois, No. 21 UCLA, No. 28 Wake Forest, No. 38 South Carolina, and No. 40 Marquette. The field also includes host Augusta, Central Florida, Georgia State, Houston, Kennesaw State, Navy, New Mexico, Tennessee, USC Aiken and Virginia Tech.

The Illini have a strong history at the 3M Augusta Invitational as the program has finished among the top five teams in each of the last four seasons. The Illini won the team title at the event in 2016, and then-junior Dylan Meyer won the individual title at the 3M Augusta Invitational last season. Charlie Danielson earned runner up honors at the event in 2016 as well.
