URBANDALE, N.Y. – Former Illini All-American, Kevin Anderson, won his fourth ATP World Tour title on Sunday afternoon at the inaugural New York Open. The No. 11-ranked Anderson defeated No. 12 Sam Querrey, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(1) in the final.

"What great resiliency Kevin showed all week," head coach Brad Dancer said. "There were tough circumstances throughout the week. We are excited for him to claim another title. As I always say, no one deserves it more. He just keeps working for it."

Anderson won four matches this week in New York City, all by way of three sets on his way to his first title since 2015 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Sunday's match was Anderson's second finals appearance in 2018 (Pune).

The Johannesburg, South Africa, native earns 250 ATP points for the singles title and will reach a career-best ranking of No. 9 on Monday morning.
