URBANA, Ill. – The No. 10 Fighting Illini men's tennis team fell to the No. 5 Stanford Cardinal, 4-2 on Saturday night at the Atkins Tennis Center. Illinois moves to 4-2 overall this season.

After taking the doubles point on the deciding court, Stanford jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the match with wins at the No. 6 and No. 2 singles positions. Freshman Alex Brown put Illinois on the board with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Sameer Kumar on court three. Sophomore Aleks Kovacevic then topped No. 117-ranked David Wilczynski, 7-5, 7-6(10) at the No. 4 position. In the end, Tom Fawcett defeated senior Aleks Vukic, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6(7) on court one to seal the Stanford victory.

Up next, the Illini travel to Seattle, Washington for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. Play is scheduled to begin on Friday.
