Opening Tips
• Illinois is back in action in Champaign for the first time in nearly two weeks, hosting UNLV on Saturday afternoon (1 p.m, BTN). This is a return match-up from last season's game in Las Vegas, an 89-82 Runnin' Rebels win at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
• This weekend is the annual Illinois Men's Basketball reunion, with approximately 100 former players, managers, staff members and support staff returning to campus for the game.
• UNLV will mark Illinois' third game in seven days. The pace of the upcoming schedule slows down, however, with the Illini playing just three games over the following 25 days before resuming league play.
• Illinois has played the fifth-toughest schedule in the nation by kenpom rankings, and the toughest schedule among teams from the six major conferences. Seven of Illinois' first nine games have been against high major opponents with a combined record of 50-11 (.820).
• The young Illini opened the 2018-19 season by playing six of its first nine games away from State Farm Center, which included two stretches of three-straight games away from home.
• Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Stanford are the only teams from the six major conferences who have played fewer home games to date (2) than the Illini (3).
