CURAÇAO -- The Illinois baseball team managed only three hits Sunday in a 4-0 loss to Curaçao at Tio Daou Ballpark. The Curaçao team was made up of invited players trying to make the official national team roster.

Quinn Snarskis was brilliant in the first three innings, striking out two of the nine batters he retired in order. He was taken out of the game due to a predetermined pitch limit, as will be the case for Illinois' staff the rest of the week.

Casey Dodge led the offense with two hits, including a double. Grant Van Scoy added a single.

Curaçao was good on the mound all night, ending the game with former big-leaguer Shairon Martis on the mound to close it out. Martis, who played for the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic, worked a 1-2-3 final frame to finish off Illinois.

The Illini and Curaçao return Monday to Tio Daou for Game 2 of the three-game series.
