CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Hailing from Carlsbad, California, Erin Weisel joins the Fighting Illini Women's Gymnastics program from Southern California Elite Gymnastics Academy (SCEGA). A Junior Olympic national qualifier, Weisel finished in the top-ten on bars at the 2018 Junior Olympic Nationals with an eighth-place finish. At the 2018 Region 1 Level 10 Regionals, Weisel placed sixth in the all-around and earned a regional title on floor, along with a runner-up position on bars. The 2014 SoCal Level 10 State floor champion is looking to make an immediate impact for the Illini in 2019.
