
CHAMPAIGN –Fighting Illini men's golf returns to action on Sunday, October 21 at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational. Held at Isleworth Golf & Country Club in Windermere, Florida, the three-day, 54-hole event is hosted by Central Florida and West Virginia.
Teams will play 18 holes each day, October 21-23, on the Par 72, 7,544-yard course at Isleworth Golf & Country Club, with tee times beginning at 7 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat, and a recap will be posted on FightingIllini.com at the conclusion of each round.
Recognized as one of the premier collegiate events in the country, the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational welcomes the nation's top teams each season. The 2018 field is no different, as the tournament will welcome seven teams ranked among the top 30 in the country according to Golfstat. In addition to the eighth-ranked Illini, the field includes No. 12 Texas, No. 13 Vanderbilt, No. 18 Arizona State, No. 21 South Carolina, No. 22 Auburn, No. 25 LSU, No. 26 California, No. 46 UCF, No. 48 North Texas, No. 51 West Virginia, No. 52 Florida, No. 55 Texas Tech and No. 60 Washington.
Illinois is coming off of a victory at the Fighting Irish Classic, its second consecutive tournament victory of the year. Illinois shot a 44-under par 54-hole score of 808 at the tournament, a number that marks the second-lowest in school history. Five individuals finished among the top 20 in the tournament field, led by juniors Bryan Baumgarten and Giovanni Tadiotto who shot 12-under par for the tournament to tie for fourth.
