Rising senior Nick Hardy had the opportunity to participate in the 2017 Arnold Palmer Cup over the weekend as he was chosen as a member of Team USA earlier this year. While at Atlanta Athletic Club, Hardy helped the United States to a 19.5-10.5 victory over Team Europe.
Hardy started the weekend partnered with Norman Xiong facing Europe's Harry Ellis and Harry Hall in a fourball match. Ellis and Hall won the match 1-up as the event continued on to four-ball matches. Hardy and Xiong halved their match against Europe's Stuart Grehan and Rory Franssen.
The second day of play saw Hardy matched up against Europe's David Wicks. Hardy took an early lead in the match and continued on to earn a 5&4 victory. Hardy continued that success into the final day of play, defeating Europe's Harry Ellis 3&2.
Hardy is is the fifth Illini to appear on the prestigious list of participants in the Palmer Cup, joining Charlie Danielson, Thomas Detry, Thomas Pieters and Scott Langley.
