Illinois orange and blue invaded St. Louis Friday night as the Cardinals hosted the Giants on Illini Night at Busch Stadium. Illini football coach Lovie Smith was on hand to meet with fans and sign autographs, while Illini great Dana Howard threw out the first pitch. Smith was a special guest on the field for batting practice, where he did several interviews and met with Cardinals manager Mike Matheny. Smith spent three years in St. Louis as defensive coordinator for the Rams from 2001-03.
Fans that purchased a Cardinals theme night ticket were able to get a special orange and blue Cardinals hat and were able to meet with Coach Smith prior to the game.
