URBANA, Illinois – The Fighting Illini men's tennis team swept the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Illini improve to 12-9 overall this season and 5-2 in Big Ten play.

The Illini continued to grab doubles point on Sunday. The freshmen duo of Zeke Clark and Aleks Kovacevic blanked the Nebraska pair of Samardzija and Klousia on court two. For the second time this weekend, junior Aleks Vukic and freshman Vuk Budic clinched the point for Illinois by way of a tiebreak. Down 5-3 to Nebraska, the Illini brought the match to 6-all and eventually won the tiebreaker 7-3.

In singles action, Vukic was first off the court with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Toby Boyer at the No. 1 position. The Illini junior moves his singles winning streak to 15 matches. Redshirt-sophomore Pablo Landa gave Illinois a 3-0 advantage with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court six over Rob Krizaj. Freshman Noe Khlif clinched the Illini sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 defeat of Antoljak at the No. 3 position.

Up next, the Orange and Blue travel to the state of Michigan for another Big Ten weekend series. Illinois will take on Michigan on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. CT and then Michigan State on Sunday at the same time.

Head Coach Brad Dancer's Thoughts

"For us, we probably haven't played that well over the last few weeks. I think a lot of that is with our coaching. We got two big conference wins in the Big Ten and we are always happy to do that and move our record forward. Now, we have another great challenge on the road. We haven't played that great on the road this year, so Michigan and Michigan State will be a good challenge for us and hopefully we do a good job as we prepare and get ready for it."
