URBANA, Ill. – The Illinois women's tennis team will face Michigan State on the road and then return home to host No. 10 Michigan for Senior Day this weekend. The Fighting Illini will play Michigan State on Friday, April 21 at 3 p.m. CT and will host Michigan on Sunday, April 23 at 11 a.m. CT at Atkins Tennis Center.

"The four seniors have meant the world to this program and have contributed more than you could ever imagine on the court, off the court to this program," said head coach Evan Clark. "They mean the world to this program and we are going to miss them dearly. They have left their mark on the court and off the court and leave a legacy. We are hoping to send the off on the right foot this weekend and next week."

Illinois fell to top-five Ohio State last weekend before defeating Penn State, playing both matches at home. The Orange and Blue currently sit at 12-11 overall with a 6-3 mark in Big Ten play.

Michigan State will enter the match with a 17-5 record and a 7-2 mark in conference play. Michigan will host Northwestern on Friday before heading to Urbana, and starts the weekend with a 17-4 record, with a 9-0 record in the Big Ten.

"I think we are excited," Clark said. "The team is healthy and feeling good about where we are at. We had two good matches, and ended on a good note last Sunday against Penn State. We know there's a lot on the line this weekend as far as the Big Ten goes. The girls are prepared, and I think they'll give their best."

IN THE RANKINGS

Michigan State's pair of Emily Metcalf and Davina Nguyen are ranked No. 75 in the nation in doubles.

Brienne Minor (No. 24) and Kate Fahey (No. 25) of Michigan are both ranked among the top-25 singles players in the nation. Fahey pairs with Alex Najarian to form the 9th-ranked doubles team in the country, and Minor partners with teammate Mira Ruder-Hook to form the No. 58 doubles pair.

UP NEXT

The Illini will return home to Urbana for postseason play, and will host the Big Ten Women's Tennis Championship, set for Thursday-Sunday, April 27-30 at the Atkins Tennis Center.
