CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois women's golf team will travel out west for the second time in as many weekends. This weekend, the Fighting Illini will head to Fairfax, California, for the Meadow Club Women's Intercollegiate, set for Monday and Tuesday, March 6-7. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is hosted by San Francisco and San Jose State, and will be played on the Par 72, 6,167-yard Meadow Club.
"It's always exciting to go to a place you haven't been to before," said head coach Renee Slone. "A new venue, a new golf course, we are definitely looking forward to it."
This will be the first appearance for No. 30 Illinois at the tournament. The Illini will compete against No. 27 California, No. 28 San Diego State, No. 33 BYU, No. 35 Michigan, No. 36 Pepperdine, No. 43 San Jose State, Coastal Carolina, Colorado State, Nevada, UC Davis, Oregon State and San Francisco.
The Illinois lineup for Meadow Club will be Swing Liu, Tristyn Nowlin, Grace Park, Chayanid Prapassarangkul and Bing Singhsumalee.
"We are looking to improve, and take advantage of another opportunity to travel to a different tournament," Slone said.
The 13-team field will play the first two rounds on Monday, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Both days will have a 10:15 a.m. CT shotgun start.
