CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois women's golf team will head to Johns Island, South Carolina, for the Briar's Creek Invitational, set for Monday and Tuesday, March 20-21. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is hosted by the College of Charleston, and will be played on the Par 72, 6,101-yard Golf Club at Briar's Creek.
"Every day is a brand new day, and every golf course, every round, you never know what the conditions may bring," said head coach Renee Slone. "What we want to do is work hard in practice, do everything we can possibly do to prepare. From a mental standpoint, a physical standpoint, conditioning, nutrition and wellness, so have everything in line from that aspect, so we can feel prepared and confident that we have done everything we can. And then, it's just a matter of going out there and enjoying the opportunity to play golf, and play on a great course against some quality competition."
The Fighting Illini will compete against No 6 Florida, No. 14 Miami (Fla.), No. 27 Ohio State, No. 32 Texas Tech, No. 34 North Carolina, No. 41 Auburn, No. 43 Louisville, No. 44 Wisconsin, No. 49 East Carolina, Boston College, Campbell, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern, East Carolina, Kansas, Long Beach State, Michigan State and Penn State.
The Illinois lineup for Briar's Creek will be Swing Liu, Tristyn Nowlin, Grace Park, Jan Prapassarangkul and Bing Singhsumalee.
The 18-team field will play the first two rounds on Monday, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Both days will have an 8 a.m. CT shotgun start.
