CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Illinois softball team will face its first true road tests of the season this weekend, when the Illini travel to Atlanta, Ga., for the I-75 Challenge on Feb. 24-26. The Illini open the weekend taking on Georgia State in a doubleheader at the Heck Softball Complex on Friday, before traveling to Kennesaw, Ga., to face Kennesaw State in a doubleheader at Bailey Park on Saturday. UI then wraps up the weekend with a single game against Georgia Tech - the third meeting of the season between the two schools - at Mewborn Field on Sunday. Games on all three days will begin at 12 p.m. CT.

The Illini will look to rebound from a 1-2 weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic last weekend. The Illini started off strong with a 5-1 win over Saint Mary's on Friday, before dropping a tight 2-1 decision to No. 22 California on Friday evening. The Orange and Blue then finished the tournament with a 11-0 five-inning setback to No. 9 Oregon on Sunday. The Illini were scheduled to play five games during the three-day tournament, but rain and field conditions forced officials to adjust the schedule multiple times - including cancelling all games on Saturday.
