ATHENS, Ga. – The Illinois women's tennis team lost to No. 6 Georgia on Sunday, 4-0, at the Hopkins Indoor Courts. The Fighting Illini move to 1-3 on the season, while Georgia's record improves to 2-0.

Georgia won the doubles point, as the pair of Caroline Brinson and Kennedy Shaffer defeated Madie Baillon and Jaclyn Switkes at No. 2 doubles, 6-1. Marta Gonzalez and Mariana Gould clinched the point for the Bulldogs at the No. 3 spot, earning the 6-2 win over Alexis Casati and Daniela Pedraza Novak. The No. 1 doubles match, between Louise Kwong and Ines Vias and the Bulldogs' Ellen Perez and Eleni Christofi, was unfinished at 3-5.

In singles, 25th-ranked Shaffer took down Casati at the No. 2 position, 6-0, 6-0. Christofi, the No. 23 singles player in the nation, won the match at No. 3 singles over Switkes, 6-4, 6-1. Georgia clinched the match at the No. 4 position, as 35^th-ranked Brinson defeated Madie Baillon, 6-2, 6-4.

The No. 1 singles match between Kwong and Perez was unfinished at 3-6, 6-3, as well as the match between Gonzalez and Pedraza Novak at the No. 5 spot, 1-4. There was no result for the No. 6 match between Jade Hilton and Mariana Gould.

The Illini return home to Champaign for their first home dual match of the season. Illinois will host No. 15 Auburn on Friday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. CT
