Men's Golf Prepares for Spring Season with Alumni Match

The Illini will head to Placida, Fla. for the event on Saturday.
Fighting Illini men's golf is set to kick off the spring season on Saturday, Jan. 28 in Placida, Florida. What was once the Tinervin Cup is now known as the Illini Alumni Match, pitting current Illini student-athletes against former Illini now in the professional ranks. The Illinois State men's golf team will also welcome its alumni to the Coral Creek Club for the weekend.
Hosted by Jeff and Madalyn Tinervin, the match play event will take place on the 7,038-yard, Par 71 course at the Coral Creek Club.
"This trip always proves to be beneficial for our team," head coach Mike Small said of the event. "It allows us to play on a quality golf course and gauge our games moving forward into the spring. We're excited to have some of our alumni attend the event this year, and hope to include a larger group in the future. We would also like to thank Jeff, Madalyn and the Tinervin Family Foundation for hosting us each season. Their support and friendship of our program over the years has been phenomenal, and we appreciate them very much."
