Last weekend was an exciting weekend in the world of Illinois men's golf, as several alumni playing in the professional ranks saw great success. Over in Europe, both Thomas Pieters and Thomas Detry earned tournament victories as Pieters picked up his third European Tour win and Detry won his first professional event on the Challenge Tour.
Pieters opened play at the Made in Denmark with a course-record 62, finishing the tournament at 17-under par.
Detry also opened play with a course-record 12-under par (60), winning the Bridgestone Challenge by 12 shots. He finished with a total score 29-under par, breaking the record for the largest margin of victory on the Challenge Tour. The previous record was set at 10 shots by Brooks Koepka in 2013.
Back in the United States, Brian Campbell was among The 25 who received PGA TOUR cards on Sunday. Campbell has played in 14 Web.com Tour events this season, making the cut in nine. He earned five Top 10 finishes this season, and has placed among the Top 25 in six events.
