Four #Illini competed in PGA Tour events over the weekend

It was a busy weekend for former Illini men's golfers in the professional ranks as Illinois saw four of its alumni compete in PGA Tour events.

Thomas Pieters earned a spot in the World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play event, March 23-27, while Luke Guthrie, Scott Langley and D.A. Points appeared in the Puerto Rico Open at Coco Beach March 24-27.

Langley led all former Illini competitors at the Puerto Rico Open as he earned an 11th place finish, shooting 8-under par through four rounds of play. All three Illini made the cut, with Guthrie finishing just one stroke back from Langley (-7) to tie for 15th overall. Points shot 3-over in the event after starting out hot with a score 3-under through the first two rounds of play. Click here for the final scores from the event.

Pieters appearance in Austin at the WGC Match Play event marks the first PGA Tour event appearance of his career. Pieters went 1-1-1 in the pool play portion of the event.

Next up for the Illini in the pros will be the Shell Houston Open, March 31-April 3 at the Golf Course of Houston in Humble, Texas. Steve Stricker, Scott Langley, Luke Guthrie and D.A. Points will all appear in the tournament field.
