CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini volleyball head coach Kevin Hambly is set to make his color commentary debut when he joins Mike Wolf in broadcasting the Penn State men's volleyball match on Saturday (March 26) night on the Big Ten Network.
The No. 10 Nittany Lions are set to take on the defending national champions and 12th-ranked Loyola Ramblers at 6 p.m. CT at Rec Hall in University Park, Pa.
The Illinois volleyball program has flourished under Hambly's leadership in his seven seasons at the helm of the program as the Illini have advanced to an NCAA Regional every season with the exception of one, including three-straight Sweet 16 appearances and a run to the National Championships match in 2011.
A top student-athlete in his own right, Hambly was a two-time All-America and All-Conference selection during his time at Brigham Young University, where he set the single-match solo blocks record and ranks second on the single-season blocks and career blocks lists and is fourth on the season kills list.
Hambly and the Fighting Illini volleyball team will begin spring competition on April 2 against Kansas State in Kirksville, Mo., on the campus of Truman State University.
