Big Ten Release | Illini Honorees
The Big Ten Conference on Wednesday recognized winter sports student-athletes who have been named to the Academic All-Conference team, including six from the Fighting Illini men's basketball team – Michael Finke, Malcolm Hill, Mike LaTulip, Cameron Liss, Maverick Morgan and Jaylon Tate. That total is an Illini team record (previous was four in 2003-04) and the most among B1G men's basketball teams this season.Â
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
The list of honorees features 42 men's and 69 women's basketball players, 64 men's and 61 women's gymnasts, 72 men's hockey players, 157 men's and 204 women's swimmers and divers and 110 wrestlers.
