Champaign, Ill. - Fighting Illini Men's Golf will kick off this year's spring break in Palm City, Fla., as the Illini prepare for another competitive tournament in the Valspar Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of Houston. The tournament, held at the Floridian Golf Club, will welcome six teams ranked among the Top-25 in the country, and 12 teams ranked among the Top-50, according to Golfweek.
The 54-hole, two-day tournament will take place March 21-22, with 36 holes to be played on Monday, March 21 and the final 18 on Tuesday. Floridian National Golf Club boasts a Par 71, 7,114-yard course situated along the St. Lucie River.
No. 1-ranked Illinois is part of a 15-team field that includes No. 2 Florida, No. 6 Florida State, No. 15 Oklahoma State, No. 16 South Florida, No. 21 LSU, No. 28 Arkansas, No. 29 SMU, No. 32 Georgia Tech, No. 34 Texas A&M, No. 45 UCLA, No. 46 Tennessee, Lamar, Houston and Kent State.
The tournament will begin with a shotgun startat 8 a.m. CT on Monday. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat, and a recap will be posted on FIGHTINGILLINI.com following each day of play.
