CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fresh off of its eighth-consecutive Illinois Challenge victory, the Illinois women's golf team is headed for the Westbrook Spring Invitational in Peoria, Arizona. This marks the fifth-straight season that the Fighting Illini open the spring slate at the University of Wisconsin-hosted event from the Westbrook Village Golf Club.
Six Big Ten teams will be present in the 15-team field. Additionally, six teams that rank in the top-50 of the Golfstat rankings will compete at the two-day event. Included in the tournament's field are: No. 16 San Diego State, No. 21 Notre Dame, No. 23 UNLV, No. 31 Oregon, No. 36 SMU, No. 47 Ohio State, No. 53 Illinois, No. 57 Washington State, No. 71 Indiana, No. 78 Iowa, No. 82 Oregon State, No. 84 Wisconsin, No. 87 Kansas State, No. 91 College of Charleston and No. 110 Nebraska.
Traveling for the Illini will be the familiar faces of Dana Gattone, Stephanie Miller, Grace Park, Chayanid Prapassarangkul and Bing Singhsumalee. The group traveled to all five of Illinois' fall competitions as well. Making her third collegiate individual appearance will be sophomore Pailin Ruttanasupagid, who competed at the Minnesota Invitational and Cardinal Cup in the fall.
Action will open on Sunday, Feb. 21, with a 9:30 a.m. CT shotgun start. The opening day's second round of play will begin at 2 p.m. CT. Third round action of the Westbrook Spring Invitational is slated for 9:30 a.m. CT.
