Hear Danielson's Full Northern Trust Press Conference

Pacific Palisades, Calif. - Fighting Illini senior Charlie Danielson is set for his first PGA Tour event appearance on Thursday, Feb. 18, as the Osceola, Wis., earned a spot in the Northern Trust Open. Danielson is set to tee off on the No. 10 tee at 10:35 a.m. CT. Fellow Illini, Steve Stricker, is set for a 2:23 p.m. tee time off of the first tee while Scott Langley will begin at 2:54 p.m. 

"I'm just going to try to take it one shot at a time, learn about as much as I can while I'm out here and go into it with no expectations," Danielson said at his press conference on Wednesday. "When you have expectations to make the cut or to try to take a Top-10 or something, you can let yourself down very easy. I'm just going to try to go out, have some fun, just enjoy the week as much as I can, and hopefully I'm around all weekend and can shoot some good scores."

The Northern Trust Open is held at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Live scoring for the event can be found here. 

Danielson won the Northern Trust Open Collegiate Showcase on Monday, Feb. 15, securing a spot in the PGA event with a score 3-under par. Danielson is currently ranked among the top-25 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and sits at No. 5 in the Golfweek Collegiate rankings. 

"The biggest thing for me is that I kind of learned to handle my nerves, and that will be important come Regionals, Nationals and Big Tens," Danielson said of playing in the event this week. "This is a really good learning experience for me for after college also."
