Fighting Illini sophomore linebacker Tré Watson was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after he helped the Fighting Illini to a 31-27 win over Michigan State on Saturday.
» Had a game- and career-high 16 tackles in the victory over Michigan State
» Added 1.5 tackles-for-loss and one pass break-up
» Averaging 10.2 tackles per game during Big Ten play to rank third in the conference
» Ranks second on the team with 70 tackles this season
» First Illini Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week since Tavon Wilson (Oct. 10, 2011)
Watson and the Illini return to action this Saturday at No. 7 Wisconsin (2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2).
