WINDERMERE, Fla. – Fighting Illini men's golf closed play at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday, finishing 14-over par in a tie for eighth overall. Junior Dylan Meyer led the squad as he used a 3-under par final round score to earn an 11th place finish. Meyer was joined among the top 25 individuals by sophomore Edoardo Lipparelli, who tied for 23rd individually with a total score 4-over par.  Florida (-20) took the tournament trophy, and Vanderbilt (-9) finished as the tournament runner-up.
"Today we hit some good quality shots and had stretches of good play," head coach Mike Small said. "But we had too many course management mistakes that led to some big numbers. We played the Par 5s poorly this week, and along with below average putting, we were never a factor in the tournament."
Meyer closed the 54-hole tournament 2-under par, posting five birdies in Tuesday's final round of play. Lipparelli shot 3-over par in the final round at Isleworth Golf & Country Club, adding three birdies to the Illini tally.
Freshman Michael Feagles shot 6-over par in the final round to tie for 32nd individually. Feagles finished the tournament with a total score of 6-over par.
Junior Nick Hardy shot 4-over par on Tuesday to finish the tournament 11-over par in a tie for 46th individually. Hardy also carded three birdies on the day.
Freshman Bryan Baumgarten tied for 68th individually with a total score 18-over par.
