After nearly three years of extensive renovations, the University of Illinois will officially dedicate State Farm Center Nov. 29 during the Illinois men's basketball game versus North Carolina State. The celebration will include a video tribute, a brief on-court recognition of State Farm® and other donors for their support that made the renovations possible, and giveaway items to all fans in attendance.
The Fighting Illini will host North Carolina State at 8 p.m. that evening as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. All fans who enter the building with a paid ticket will receive a special co-branded State Farm Center/Illinois basketball keepsake, compliments of State Farm. Fans will receive either one of 5,000 tote bags or one of 9,000 keychains. Additionally, the first 5,000 fans to enter the arena will receive scratch-off cards to see if they win one of 2,000 State Farm Center replicas (to be picked up inside the arena).
The $170 million-renovation effort of State Farm Center began in March of 2014 and will wrap up this fall. In addition to new locker rooms and team areas for both men's and women's basketball, the facility will include many improved fan amenities. They include air conditioning, new restrooms and permanent concessions on the upper concourse, a new sound system, a larger center-hung scoreboard and façade LED ribbon board display, improved WiFi access, three new hospitality club spaces and premium seating, historical recognition displays in the upper concourse for all 21 varsity athletic teams, and the Mannie Jackson Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame located inside the west lobby.
"We are excited to officially dedicate State Farm Center and to reintroduce the longstanding home of Illinois basketball to Illini Nation," said Illinois Director of Athletics Josh Whitman. "The facility has been transformed into one of the greatest venues in college basketball. Such an ambitious project would not have been possible without the support of State Farm, many private donors and corporate partners, and the University of Illinois student body. Â We are hoping for a great Fighting Illini crowd on November 29 to help us launch this new era of Illinois Basketball."
Single-game tickets for North Carolina State, and all other home contests, are on sale now for IFUND members and will go on sale Thursday to the general public. Tickets may also be purchased through the $125 Slam Dunk Mobile Season Pass or through mini-plan game packages. Tickets may be ordered online at FightingIllini.com, on the phone at 1-866-Illini-1 or in person at the Illinois Ticket Office at State Farm Center.
