Illini to Face Miami in Big Ten/ACC Challenge

Illini are 2-0 all-time against Miami

Champaign, Ill. - The Illini are set to face the Miami Hurricanes this winter in the 2015 Big Ten/ACC Challenge, as announced today by the Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conference offices. The two teams will meet for the third time in program history on Wednesday, December 2 at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Fla. Illinois is 4-4 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, with the most recent victory coming over Virginia last season.

The last meeting between the two teams came on Dec. 30, 1987, also in Coral Gables, Fla. Illinois came out of the Orange Bowl Classic matchup with an 85-83 victory. The Illini and the Hurricanes first met in Champaign on Dec. 12, 1985, with the Illini also snagging a victory, 73-47.

Coming off a 15-16 record in the 2014-15 season, the Illini recorded the best non-conference record (9-3) since the 2006-07 campaign. The Illini's 5-0 record to tip off the year was the best for the Orange and Blue in 12 seasons.
