Louisville, Ky. -
The honors continue to roll in for Illini team captain Allie Bauch, as the junior second baseman was named to the NFCA All-Midwest Region Second Team this morning, as elected by the region head coaches. It is the second consecutive season that Bauch has earned a regional nod, finding herself on the All-Midwest Third Team in 2014.

The Schaumburg, Illinois, native is the sixth Illini to earn two regional nods and the first since 2011, when Meredith Hackett took home her second straight award while Danielle Zymkowitz became the first Illini to be tabbed for three straight years.

Over the past two weeks, Bauch's collection of hardware has grown rapidly, as the Illini leadoff batter was named 2015 First Team All-Big Ten as well as to the Capital One Academic All-District Second Team. Tabbed as Big Ten Player of the Week on March 30, Bauch racked up team honors at the Illini's end-of-season celebration, garnering Most Valuable Player, capturing the Above and Beyond Award and claiming the Scholar-Athlete Award.

"Allie raised her game to a new level this season," said head coach Terri Sullivan. "She has become an elite hitter against the best of the best. We are proud of her accomplishments and know that her competitive drive already has her working hard for next season."

At the close of the regular season, Bauch ranked in the top 15 in the Big Ten in eight different offensive categories, including ranking second in doubles and third in hits. The junior second baseman finished the year a double shy of the Illini program record, ranking 11th in the nation with 18 two-baggers, while cracking the top eight all time at Illinois in batting average (.399), slugging percentage (.702) and on base percentage (.483). The Schaumburg, Illinois, native also finished in the top 10 all time in single-season runs, hits, home runs and walks, while posting the third-most total bases.

Bauch earned her second career weekly award on March 30, being named Big Ten Player of the Week after going 10-for-14 with three doubles, a home run and eight runs scored over four games against No. 20 Missouri and Indiana. The performance kicked off a 24-game reached-base streak from March 25 to May 2, marking the fourth-longest single-season streak in Illini history, as she finished the year by getting on base in 40 of the final 43 games.

One of the Illini's three team captains, Bauch's consistency at the top of the lineup helped fuel her teammates throughout the season. Her ability to get things started helped lead her teammates to produce one of the most spectacular offensive campaigns in program history, setting new team records for batting average, slugging percentage and sacrifice flies, while ranking second all time in on base percentage, hits, doubles and total bases, and third with 68 home runs. Under her leadership, Illinois ranked in the top 30 nationally in slugging percentage, batting average, doubles and home runs, averaging the seventh-most two-baggers in the nation due in large part to her 18.

With a full year left to play for the Orange and Blue, Bauch already ranks in the top five all time in career batting average, on base percentage and slugging percentage, as well as sixth in double plays turned and seventh in assists.
