West Lafayette, Ind. - The third-ranked Illinois men's golf team took home the team trophy and placed four individuals among the top finishers at the 2015 Boilermaker Invite held at Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind. As a team, the Illini shot 35-under par, closing out the final round with a score 3-under depsite rainy weather conditions. Louisville and Northwestern rounded out the top three teams, finishing 3-under par and 5-over par, respectively.

Thomas Detry and Charlie Danielson tied for first individually in the tournament, while Dylan Meyer and Brian Campell earned third and fourth place finishes.

"I was proud of the way the guys competed all week and really proud of the way they finished off the tournament when the weather got bad," said coach Mike Small. "The tournament was already decided, but the guys finished strong even with the rain and weather coming in. We schedule these events to build momentum as a team going into the championships, and I think we accomplished that. We also had four of our individuals finish among the top players so I'm proud of them.

Both Detry and Danielson shot 10-under par in the tournament, Danielson was holding on to the top spot after the first day of play. He closed out the final round 2-over par after a few late birdies in the round. Detry shot 2-under par in the final round, tallying three birdies to help negate a bogey on the 13th hole.

Not far behind, freshman Dylan Meyer placed third in the tournament after a 9-under par tournament total. His 2-under par finish in the third round was capped off with a nice birdie on his final hole.

Taking fourth individually, Brian Campbell finished just three strokes behind Meyer, scoring 6-under par. He shot 1-under par in the final round using two late birdies to makeup for two bogeys in the middle of the round.

Freshman Nick Hardy joined his teammates among the top-30 finishers, he tied for 29th overall as he shot 5-over par.

The Illini were one of 15 teams in the tournament field, joining Purdue, Ohio State, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Kent State, Miami-Ohio, Indiana, Ball State, Northern Illinois, Toledo, Wisconsin, Louisville, Georgia Regents and Southern Illinois.

The Illini begin play at the Big Ten Championships next weekend. Full coverage will be available on FightingIllini.com and on the team's social media sites.
