Los Angeles, Calif. - After an exciting walk-off victory in the first game of the day, the Illini stumbled in the nightcap of the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament, falling 14-0 to No. 13 UCLA in five innings. Bruins hurler Ally Carda, a top-three finalist for 2014 National Player of the Year and member of the USA Women's National Team, tossed her second no-hitter of the season in the five-inning contest. Win the win, the Bruins improve to 19-5 on the season, while Illinois slips to 8-12.

"We didn't execute the game plan in the circle early and UCLA took advantage of that right away," said head coach Terri Sullivan. "We got beat then in all aspects, but we will certainly be eager to get back out here tomorrow."

Allie Bauch walked to lead off the game, and Alyssa Gunther moved her to second on a sacrifice bunt, but that was it for the Illini in the top of the first, and the Bruins put the game out of reach in the bottom half of the opening frame, scoring nine runs on seven hits and an Illini error to make it 9-0 after just one inning of play.

Bauch and Gunther drew back-to-back walks in the top of the third, but Illinois was unable to come up with a hit, and five more Bruins runs secured a 14-0 victory for UCLA.

Illinois used three pitchers in the game, as Breanna Wonderly (2-6) allowed the first five runs on three hits over just a third of an inning, then Shelese Arnold took over in relief, allowing four earned runs, but nine total, over three-and-a-third. Freshman Kate Giddens entered with two outs in the fourth and drew a ground out from the only batter she faced. UCLA's Ally Carda improved to 9-3 on the year, allowing three walks and no hits over five innings.

Illinois returns to action on Saturday, March 7, for a rematch with both UC Davis and UCLA. Opening pitch against the Aggies is set for 2 p.m. CT, with the Illini squaring off with the Bruins shortly following its conclusion.
