
Champaign, Ill. - Fighting Illini Women's Basketball and head coach Matt Bollant announced the addition of Mark Uitermarkt to the women's basketball staff on Monday, Nov. 2. The program's new video coordinator, Uitermarkt joins the Illini staff from Illinois State where he most recently worked as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Redbird Women's Basketball program.
"Mark is a really great addition to our staff," head coach Matt Bollant said of the new Illini video coordinator. "He blew our committee away during the interview and we are really excited to have him. Mark is very talented and he brings a lot of experience with him; we're very fortunate to add him to our family."
While at Illinois State, Uitermarkt was responsible for all team travel arrangements as well as working with the team budget. In addition, Uitermarkt also served as the liasion to the marketing department, academic study center and the booster club.
Uitermarkt has 11 years of Division I women's basketball experience and also coached at the Division III level for three seasons.
For eight seasons, Uitermarkt was the administrative specialist and operations and video coordinator for the Michigan women's basketball team and was responsible for operational and administrational assistance. His main tasks included working with team technology, assisting in on-campus recruiting, helping in summer basketball camp coordination, film breakdown for scouting, and breakdown of game film for team and individual players.
Also at Michigan, Uitermarkt assisted in the two-year design and construction project of the William Davidson Player Development Center and Crisler Arena renovation project. With the Wolverines, he also worked with various other offices within the athletic department.
Prior to his time at Michigan, Uitermarkt served as the director of basketball operations at Missouri State for two seasons. The 2000-01 Lady Bears advanced to the NCAA Final Four and Uitermarkt was involved in all operational tasks for the nationally recognized team.
Uitermarkt also has eight years of coaching experience between the collegiate and high school levels.
