Fighting Illini head to Texas for third fall tournament
BOERNE, Texas – Coming off of a pair of top-10 finishes to open the season, the Illinois women's golf team heads to the Jim West Challenge for possibly its biggest test yet. The three-day event will be hosted by Texas State University from Sunday, Oct. 4 through Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Tapatio Springs Resort.
Six of the teams in the 13-member field rank in the top 30 in the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Those six, and their ranks, include: Kent State, 9; Texas A&M, 18; Illinois, 21; Houston, 22; Miami, 26; and Missouri, 27. Other teams in the field are Texas State, Texas, Florida State, Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and USTA.
Opening-round tee times begin at 10 a.m. CT, with Illinois commencing at 11:10 a.m. First on the links will be sophomore Grace Park, followed by freshman Bing Singhsumalee, who will be succeeded by Chayanid Prapassarangkul. Dana Gattone and Stephanie Miller will round out the Orange and Blue competitors.
The Tapatio Springs Resort is a par-72 venue that features a yardage of 6,372, including a par-37 back nine.
