
Rosemont, Ill. - Fighting Illini redshirt senior Jannelle Flaws was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Thursday, Oct. 29, after helping the Illini to a 3-1 win over Minnesota to close regular season play. The win earned the Illini a No. 8 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, and the trip will mark the program's fifth consecutive Big Ten Tournament appearance.
Flaws scored her 10th and 11th goals of the season at Minnesota on Wednesday, Oct. 28, helping to lift Illinois over Minnesota in the regular season finale. Flaws scored off of a free kick and a penalty kick within minutes of each other, and she tallied her fifth game-winning goal of the season in the match. She fired a game-high eight shots, putting seven of them on goal in the snowy conditions in Saint Paul. The honor marks the fourth in Flaws' career and her second of the season.
Flaws and the Illini will continue the 2015 season in the quarterfinal round of the BIg Ten Tournament. The Illini are slated to face No. 1 seed, Penn State, in University Park, Pa. The game time is still to be announced.
