Singles Qualifying Draw | Singles Main Draw | Doubles Main Draw

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Illinois Women's Tennis wrapped up play at the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional after four days of action against the region's top competition. UI opened play on Thursday, Oct. 22, and bowed out of the event today, Sunday, Oct. 25, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  

First day action saw Daniela Pedraza Novak defeat Western Michigan's Ella Perinovic 6-4, 6-1 in the opening round of qualifying singles followed by Bowling Green State's Polina Radeva, 6-1, 6-3 in round two. Grace Tapak fell in the first round of qualifying to Ohio State's Niki Flower by a 6-4, 6-2 decision.

Day two saw Pedraza Novak defeat Kelsey Grambeau from Wisconsin 6-2, 6-1 to earn a bid into the main draw.

Doubles action opened on day two with Jade Hilton and Pedraza Novak picking up a win in the first round of the doubles main draw by an 8-3 mark over their NIU counterparts. Also in the opening round, Madie Baillon and Jaclyn Switkes teamed up to defeat the Rider/Stepanova duo from Wisconsin, 8-6.

The third-seeded tandem of Louise Kwong and Ines Vias opened play in the second round with a victory over EIU's Iden/Foster team by an 8-1 decision. Kwong and Vias continued their winning ways in the main draw round of 16 with a victory over Broda and Chong from Notre Dame in an 8-1 fashion.  

In the opening round of the singles main draw, four Illini picked up victories including Pedraza Novak, Jerricka Boone, Vias and Hilton to advance to the second round. In the second round, [13-16] Kwong and [3] Alexis Casati each opened singles play following a first round bye. Casati defeated her Michigan State counterpart in a 7-5, 6-4 decision, while Kwong fell in a third-set tiebreaker.

Day four of play saw Illinois' duo of [3] Kwong and Vias fall to Ohio State's [5-8] Kowase/Sanford duo in an 8-4 decision in the doubles main draw quarterfinals.

Later in the day, [3] Casati fell to Ohio State's Ferny Angeles-Paz in a two-set 6-3, 7-6(3) fashion to conclude the Fighting Illini's run at the 2015 USTA/ITA Midwest Regional.

Next up for the Orange and Blue unit is the Midwest Blast, set to take place at the Atkins Tennis Center from Friday, Nov. 6, through Sunday, Nov. 8. The event will be Illinois' final competition of the fall.
