Hello Illini Family!
My name is Nicole Evans and I am a junior outfielder on our 2015-16 Illinois softball team. I am majoring in kinesiology and am hoping to pursue a career as a physician assistant.
The amazing athletic programs brought me to the University of Illinois, and the undeniable academic achievement made me fall even more in love. Seeing the history of the great intellectuals who have walked the same halls as we do today is a tremendous experience. As a kinesiology major learning how the body works and about physical activity has been extremely interesting and insightful. Being involved in research has also been a highlight of my undergraduate studies to date.
Having just finished our fall season, I can honestly say that I am so excited to see what our team will accomplish in the spring. The energy, enthusiasm, and heart put forth each day at practice has made our team better even in the short time we have had so far. The coaching staff has taught us to not only expect to be great ball players, but to demand it from each other on a daily basis. Last week we had the conclusion of our Orange and Blue World Series. The great team play, great execution, and sheer fun we had was something I will not forget. Our team is on a great path and we work everyday to play in June.
Finally, I would just like to point out how great it really is to be a Fighting Illini. There are so many people who help us, some without us even knowing. At what other school does the athletic director stop by practice to say hello to the team? At what other school does Dee Brown come to practice just because he wants to see how hard we work and commend us for it? Where else does Kathy Kaler stop you on the street just to see how your day is going?
The Illini Family makes every day a great day to be a Fighting Illini.
See you in the Spring!
