LINCOLN, Neb. - Illinois rebounded with its first Big Ten win on Sunday, downing defending Big Ten champion Nebraska on the road, 3-0. Sophomore Allison Stucky scored in the first half and senior Jannelle Flaws put two away in the second half, while sophomore goalkeeper Claire Wheatley made three saves as part of the Illini's fourth shutout this year. UI improved to 6-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the Big Ten and Nebraska dropped to 4-3-1 on the year with a 0-1-1 conference mark.

"Nebraska is a great attacking team, so I am proud of our team for sticking to our game plan and taking care of the details," assistant coach Jeff Freeman said. "We came out with a lot of energy at the start to set the tone early. Our team defending from top to bottom has been really terrific, and it was great again today."

The game was scoreless until the 40th minute when Stucky turned in her third goal of the season off the assist by junior Amy Feher. The Brecksville, Ohio, native later added an assist, marking the second time she has recorded three points in a game in her career.

The Orange and Blue carried the 1-0 advantage into halftime after applying consistent pressure in the opening frame with an 8-2 edge in shots and 4-2 mark in corner kicks.

Flaws posted her second multi-goal game this season, has six goals through eight games and took over sole possession of fourth place on Illinois' all-time list with 32 career goals. She found the net in the 71st minute off the first career assist by freshman Katherine Ratz. Less than 10 minutes later, Flaws sent one past the keeper off the set-piece service into the box by Stucky. The Glenview, Illinois, native attempted a season-high eight shots and put four on target.

The Illini finished with a 13-6 advantage in shots, as the starting back line of Feher, redshirt-junior Aliina Weykamp, sophomore Hope D'Addario and freshman Abby Elinsky limited its fifth consecutive opponent to single-digit shots. Over the past five games, Illinois has outshot its opponents 84-23.

"Our back four was on the same page today more than they have been in the past few games," Freeman said. "We really limited Nebraska's dangerous chances in front of our goal. When they did have chances, Claire was there to cover for us."

Wheatley owns two solo shutouts and a 4-1-0 record this season. She also played a half in Illinois' other two shutouts, as the Illini have posted a clean sheet in half of their games.

Up Next: After playing its last five games on the road, Illinois will continue its Big Ten season with its first two conference home games. The Illini will welcome Indiana on Thursday (Sept. 18) at 2:30 p.m. followed by Purdue on Sunday (Sept. 21) at 1 p.m. at the Illinois Soccer Stadium.
