- Two-time defending NCAA and Big Ten Champion Jesse Delgado returns for his senior season. Last year, Delgado accumulated a record of 30-2 with seven wins by fall. His .938 win percentage last season is the seventh-best mark in school history. He enters his final campaign in an Illini singlet ranked No. 1 by both WIN Magazine and Intermat. Delgado won the Dike Eddleman award as Illinois' top male athlete last year. He currently sits at 91 career wins and his .875 career win percentage is fourth-best in school history.
- After taking a redshirt season in 2013-14, look for Isaiah Martinez to seize control of the starting job at 157 pounds. Martinez compiled a 13-2 record last year, including winning the William Penn Open. He is ranked ninth in WIN Magazine's preseason poll.
- Returning for his final season as an Illini, Jackson Morse recorded a career-high 25 wins during the 2013-14 campaign. He qualified for the NCAA Championships after finishing a career-best fifth at the Big Ten Championships. Morse recorded the second-most points at dual meets last year, as well as the fastest fall of the season for the Illini (0:36). He finished a perfect 4-0 at the NWCA National Duals and won the Loras Open.
- After wrestling at 157 pounds last season, Zac Brunson will make the jump up to 174 pounds for the 2014-15 season. Brunson compiled a 24-14 record en route to finishing seventh in the Big Ten and qualifying for the NCAA Championships. He won the Loras Open and finished seventh at the Midlands Championships.
Illini Return Eight Starters
Illinois is led by two-time NCAA and Big Ten Champion Jesse Delgado (125). Zane Richards (133), Steven Rodrigues (141), Caleb Ervin (149), Jackson Morse (165), Zac Brunson (174) and Nikko Reyes (184) also return for the Illini, each having qualified for the NCAA National Championships at least once in their careers. Christopher Lopez (HWT) also returns after being in the starting lineup last season.


InterMat Pegs Illini At 11th/14th
InterMat has released its preseason Dual Meet Rankings, as well as its Tournament Rankings for the 2014-15 season. The Illinois wrestling team comes in at 11th in the Dual Meet Rankings and 14th in the Tournament Rankings. Seven Illini grapplers are ranked in the top-20 in their weight class.


Illini Ranked 11th by Win Magazine
WIN Magazine has released its annual preseason Tournament Power Index (TPI) & Rankings, and the Illinois wrestling squad comes in at 11th. The TPI predicts how teams will finish in the 2015 NCAA National Championships, which are set to take place in St. Louis, Missouri. Eight Illini garnered top-20 individual weight class rankings.
