CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - On Sunday, October 19th, the fourth day of the Midwest USTA/ITA Regional, the Illini wrapped up their competition in the event. Despite occupying three of the 16 remaining main draw spots, the Illini could not pick up a win on the day.

Louise Kwong started the day against Sarah Lee of Michigan and fell 6-1 in the opening set. Kwong put up a solid fight in the second set but fell short in the 7-5 decision.

Sophomore Alexis Casati faced off against top-seeded Emina Bektas from Michigan in the afternoon. Casati put up a fight but ultimately fell 6-3, 6-4.

By mid-afternoon Melissa Kopinski was the sole Illini left to play on the day. The senior matched up against Northwestern's Alicia Barnett. Kopinski ended up falling in two sets 6-3, 6-2.

In the back draw Grace Tapak and Jade Hilton fell to Eastern Michigan's Gogvadze and Ribero tandem 8-7(4).

Head coach Michelle Dasso's crew has one more weekend of fall competition remaining. The USTA Clay Court Invitational held in Orlando, Florida, runs from October 30th through November 2nd. Illini not traveling to Orlando will compete at the Purdue Invitational from October 31st through November 2nd.
