Champaign, Ill. - For the second year in a row, the 2012-13 Fighting Illini volleyball squad was a recipient of the AVCA Team Academic Award.  The award, which was initiated in 1992-93, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that display excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) for the entire year. Illinois is one of 131 Division I institutions to qualify for this year's award and the only Big Ten program to do so.

This award should come as no shock, as 10 out of a possible 12 Illinois sophomores through seniors were presented with Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2012, the most of any Big Ten program. Additionally, Anna Dorn was awarded with First Team Academic All-District honors, demonstrating her strong commitment to the University both on and off the court.
