GROZNY, Russia -- Former Illinois wrestler Jimmy Kennedy (2007-11) placed second at the Ramzan Kadirov Cup in Grozny, Russia on Sunday. The former Illini competed at 132 pounds and won all of his preliminary matches before falling to eventual champion Murad Nukhadiev of Russia.

Kennedy is currently ranked No. 2 in the USA at his weight class after placing second at the 2013 U.S. World Team Trials. Last weekend, the Ingleside, Ill. native won a gold medal at the Intercontinental Cup in Khasavjurt, Russia.
