URBANA, Ill. - The 18th-ranked Illinois men's tennis team squared off with former Illini in an alumni match Saturday night at Atkins Tennis Center. The 2012 squad came away with a 4-0 victory, taking the doubles point and three singles matches against the past Orange and Blue players.
The Illini welcomed back 2000 graduate and former All-American Jeff Laski, 2009 graduates Billy Heiser and Brian Livingston and 2011 graduates Connor Roth and Abe Souza, who ranks 12th all-time in singles wins at Illinois.
Freshman duo Tim Kopinski and Ross Guignon and junior tandem Stephen Hoh and Bruno Abdelnour captured doubles wins, while Hoh, Guignon and Kopinski also won in singles play to wrap up the victory for the current Illini.
The Orange and Blue will open Big Ten play at Nebraska next Friday, March 2 for their sixth match of an eight-match road swing.
