2011 NCAA Mock Selection Participants
INDIANAPOLIS - Several Division I women's basketball coaches and conference administrators, including Illinois head coach Jolette Law, will be in Indianapolis this weekend to take part in the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship "mock" selection exercise to be held July 16-17 at the NCAA national office.
Law is among a select group who will fulfill responsibilities typically handled by members of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee in regard to the selection, seeding and bracketing of the Division I Women's Basketball Championship. This exercise is a great opportunity for coaches and conference administrators to engage in a "mock" process that will be educational, enlightening and helpful in creating a greater understanding of each phase of the process for the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship.
The NCAA will be providing updates and insights on the process on its Facebook and Twitter pages.
The session will begin Saturday, July 16 at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis at 9 a.m. ET and conclude for the day at approximately 10 p.m. The process will resume the following morning Sunday, July 17 at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at noon. All attendees will participate in a "hands-on" exercise, including the "mock" selection of teams, seeding of those selected teams and placing those teams in a "mock" bracket. Participants will arrive prepared to discuss teams, key personnel, non-conference/conference game results and will follow the "Principles and Procedures for Establishing the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship bracket." The NCAA staff will guide the process and members of the women's basketball committee will be in attendance for assistance purposes.
